OUR ENVIRONMENTAL COMMITMENT
We, at KLCI, recognise the immense importance of safeguarding and nurturing the natural resources with which we are blessed. KLCI incorporates environmental care strategies through its operational process to ensure overall positive impacts on the environment and society. The Ambient Air Quality, Water Quality and Noise Level are monitored periodically by an external ISO 14001, 22000 & 9001 certified laboratory to ensure environmental regulatory compliance and safety.
KLCI has a Sustainability Development Unit in place, to champion the ethos prescribed by the Sustainable Development Framework for mines in India. In keeping with the framework, KLCI operates with cognizance of social and environmental responsibility. The various exacting initiatives taken by KLCI to foster ensure environmental care are as below:
Dust Suppression with water sprinklers in all roads within the mines
Constant Air Quality monitoring within the mines
DGM Safety Training and Staff Safety Drills performed routinely
Water trenching in Safety Zone to rechange ground-water levels and prevent water run-off
Green cover at Mine-head to minimise soil erosion and improve air quality
Solar panels used as renewable energy source
Plantating of trees in the Buffer-Zone & on Inactive Dumps
Calibrated Green energy-efficient generator
In-house plant nursery to promote indigenous flora.
In-house Chemical Analysis Unit

Toe-walls constructed in the perimeter of inactive dumps to help with stability & safety.

Garland drain constructed to re-direct water run-off from the dumps to a Silt Settling Tank (SST).
